In our 5 years of business, we are happy to announce that it is the SECOND time one of our great products will be appearing on CBC's The Dragon's Den TONIGHT! (And yes, I am shouting cuz this deserves some shout outs!!) The owners of Applecheeks Cloth Diapers - one of our most popular diapering product for the past 4 years - will face the Dragon's tonight and from reading their facebook posts they are about to burst with excitement. Which then makes me want to burst with excitement for them!!

I was lucky to sit and visit with Amy & Illana this past weekend at the Toronto Baby Show (and by visit I mean sit on their couch, quickly write an order and then eat them out of house & home. Thanks for the apples, almonds, feta cheese and water!) That is how great they are! I got to see the new limited edition colour (To Be Announced Jan 30th - no amount of bribery will get it out of me!). You'll just have to join us during Happy Hour on the 30th to find out for yourself!!

bump decided that we need new holiday music to play in the store and so.... today's entries are us asking you to post your all-time favourite carol or holiday-related song (with artist so we can look it up and download). I have two favourites - if you are in the store you will hear the last holiday cd I made which has these two songs on it about 3 different times by various artists (hence the need to make another cd before I drive Jeanine & the customers batty listening to the same tunes over and over!) I love love love "O Holy Night" - I literally tear up every time I hear it. I think, for me, it just brings it all back to the meaning of this special season. The other is "I'll be home for Christmas". As one who has lived all over (from Ottawa, to Toronto and then Finland) coming home for Christmas was always special for me. Until you have lived elsewhere, it's hard to grasp that feeling of packing up and traveling through the holidays. The anticipation of seeing your loved ones, sleeping in a familiar bed and all the old traditions you grew up with - it's a hard feeling to describe but it's pretty wonderful. So....tell me what songs you love!

A NUMMIES COMFORT BRA....

Nummies is a lovely Canadian line, born from an even lovelier Canadian mom-trepreneur! Check out her website and her blog but I warn you her words are genuine and usually make me cry! As well I urge you to check out her video called Reflections of Motherhood. Here is her story of how Nummies was born:

When you have a baby you get a lot of advice. Nummies was born because of two pieces of advice I was given after my first arrived. Nummies was his word for breastfeeding. Some wise mamas suggested to me early on that I teach my kids a word that I didn't mind being shouted in the grocery store. Am I ever glad I listened to that advice.

When I became a mom, I looked for nursing bras that had function and beauty, that made me feel and look my best, but I just couldn't find them. Did I have to leave my love of beautiful bras behind me. I believe that women who breastfeed their children are beautiful. Now if your families are anything like mine, each holiday (especially Christmas) revolves around what food we are going to eat. I'm going to be honest and admit that we're pretty competitive and try to out do each other when it comes to certain things like pumpkin pie (canned vs fresh pumpkin) or the famous broccoli/cauliflower casserole (low fat vs full fat!). But there are some traditions such as a seafood feast on Christmas Eve, No-Turkey Christmas Day and Boxing Day bowling accompanied by pizza and left overs!! So here it is June already and we are getting ready to celebrate bump's 4th birthday and our 1 year anniversary in Walkerville. It's been a crazy year what with the move, the flood, the additional 1500sq feet of store, new staff, living abroad, moving back....blah blah blah!

That said, it's time to celebrate!! We are FOUR!! It's been such a blast getting to know customers, bringing in new product, growing, learning and just having a blast! We've gone through three web designers and are excited to finally re-launch our online store again this month.

I'm making a few mid-year resolutions such as to Tweet and to blog on here more frequently - the whole blogging thing I love and just have to make the time to tell you all about our new great products and all the fun stuff we have in the works! The 'tweeting' has been interesting - I know it's a great social resource so trying to figure it out. How much is too much? Do people really care? But to be honest it's kinda fun! Especially with twitpic.... Gotta make this iphone purchase worth the $$!!

Great Cloth Diaper Change & Earth Day!

As part of our Earth Day activities we are pleased to be a host for the Great Cloth Diaper Change in hopes to set a Guinness World Record!

There are currently 361 locations across the GLOBE who are aiming to change cloth diapers at 12:30pm on Saturday April 23rd at 1719 Wyandotte St East.

You can fill out the registration form in store or email us at info@bumpmaternityonline.com and we'll email you the form to fill in! We just need to get a good count to see who is coming!

We'll have gift bags and samples as well as a cloth diaper demonstration, raffle and debut of some of our new products.

Ladies & Gents it's that time of year again....Spring Cleaning time!!

This past month we've been busy cleaning out and organizing the back room and moving around the displays to make room for some great new products coming this year!

There are a few things we are quite excited about and I'll do a few blogs on them in the near future so stay tuned - let's just say one of the first self-closing strollers which also charges your phone and ipod, a baby swing that mimics mom's moves and great new colours and accessories for our Uppa Vista! Not to mention tons of new clothes for mom and baby!!

BUT in order to get all these items in we need to clear out!! That said, this week we are having a blow out sale! Come in fast as sizes are limited. But we are doing 50% off all regular priced maternity & nursing clothing - including Paige Jeans, Boob Nursing tops, and tons of tunics, shirts and dresses!! There are a few exceptions such as items on our clearance racks and Bravado Nursing bras/tanks but we do have a selection of Nummies bras that are close to 60% off... Resolutions

So although I prefer to look at them as goals, we all tend to try to start off the year with good intentions of changes or ways to improve our lives etc. Mine this year are pretty simple - run another 1/2 marathon, find something to be thankful for each day and tell the people in my life I love them more often. Oh and stay on top of this blog to tell you about all our great products!!

Hi y'all!!

Well we just got back from Vegas and the ABC Kids Show!! We have a few more pictures for our celebrity hall of fame wall in the store!! Oh and a TON of great new items and updates for 2011!

There was SO much to see but we are pleased with some of the new lines we are bringing in like Itzy Ritzy, 4moms, Boon, Phil & Teds, Moby Wraps, and of course many favourites like JJ Cole, Boob, Petunia Picklebottom and more!!

Bob Strollers and Uppa Baby have some new colours and new accessories for next year!! Plus one of Uppa's new colours is named Lindsey - how great!!?? We got to meet and hang with the owner of Uppa baby and all their great staff!

Monte Design has some new changes to their rockers and bassinet for next year too and their Grano Glider Recliner is BEAUTIFUL! Look for it in store in early 2011 or maybe even before the end of the year!!

Well folks - we are officially back open for business and love our new space all over again! Here are a few pics from opening night - it was a great success and we couldn't be happier! Thank you to everyone for your support and for all the help in putting bump back together again!

We have added more great diaper bags - may of which just look like a classic purse or tote. Something for everyone's needs and tastes which can be used even beyond the diaper bag years! Great as carry-on bags or weekenders!

As always, fun and unique accessories are part of our line up from patent mocs to flower helmet covers and socks that look like shoes AND stay on baby's little feet!! We can't wait to add even more fun lines to our walls come the fall!!

Lots of room now for strollers to move around racks, a fun children's area with expanded toy lines and play house, larger dressing rooms to include little ones, prams or a nice spot for nursing moms to relax and much more! All of our staff has now taken their Bravado Bra Certification course so we are pleased to offer you even better fitting expertise!

Re-Opening Celebration

We are pleased to announce that bump maternity + baby has been put back together again!!

The store will reopen for business Saturday August 7th 10am - 6pm and Sunday August 8th 11am - 2pm!!

Join us for a Friends & Family reception Friday August 6th from 6pm - 8pm to see the new space!

We will have great sales on all our "slightly wet" merchandise and some new items too. Fall is just starting to come out but we didn't want to wait any longer so we will be clearing out all the old stock to make room for new items arriving daily!

ReOpening Take Two

Well folks...

bump maternity + baby will be temporarily closed while renovations are completed and new stock is ordered. we hope that this process will only take a few weeks however timelines are always just estimates given the amount of damage across this city!

Store Updates

Hi all

Well in case you haven't yet heard we did open for one whole day but then unfortunately suffered damages from the storms that came through the area this past weekend. We had significant water damage and partial ceiling collapse so we are in the midst of getting everything straightened out and repaired.

Anyone who has a special order placed, you will still receive it as planned. We will be in touch as to delivery dates and pick up locations. We are able to still operate our online sales portion and all of our stroller and furniture orders as that stock is not affected. Shower registries can be emailed to interested parties and we can arrange shopping appointments.

We do hope to be back up and running soon however with all the destruction that has happened across the area we know that it could take a few weeks. We check our phone messages throughout the day so if you need anything don't hesitate to call 519.256.7282 or email info@bumpmaternityonline.com.

Move Updates

Our beautiful new space is nearing renovation completion so it's time start moving things over and setting up.

The Erie Street location will be open by appointment only this week as we close to pack and tear down. We aim to be open by Friday June 4th at noon but stay tuned to this blog for details. With Red Bull Air Races and Art in the Park this coming weekend we want to be open to take part in our new neighborhood's festivities!

Our Grand Opening will be Saturday June 11th! Check back here for more details!

Expanding BUMP!

As with many of our customers, we are expanding!! It is our third birthday next month and it's time to move to a larger space to accommodate all our great lines and to offer our customers more of what they are looking for!

So it is our pleasure to announce that in June bump maternity + baby will be relocating to join other great like-minded businesses in the Walkerville business district!! You will find us between Vito's Pizzeria and the Olde Walkerville Pharmacy on Wyandotte St East. There are so many great neighbors around us and we think that this is going to be a great space to fit in to.

Though I do see flurries of snow out there today (not to say I told you so but...I did!) Easter is just around the corner. What could be cuter on your little hunny-bunny than this adorable new onesie from Parade Organics?

Along with 'bear' and 'blossom', bunny is one of the newest members to the Parade nickname lineup and is very cute! Matching pink pants and bunny knotted cap are also available!

I have partnered with the fantastic photographer Angie Chauvin who captures the beauty of a pregnant mother and sweetness of little ones in photographs that are beyond gorgeous!!

Currently a selection of Angie's work is on display in the store so I encourage you to drop by to take a look! We are excited to have the contest winners on display in the store in the near future!!

You can enter in store at Bump until March 31st, 2010 to win a free photo shoot.
We will be choosing FIVE bumps, (moms-to-be in week 33 to 39 as of April 1, 2010) and FIVE babies, (newborn to 24 months). All models must be wearing fashions purchased at Bump for the photo shoot. Images will be feature as portrait art in store and/or at www.bumpmaternityonline.com

Photography sessions will take place in April 2010.

If you are expecting or have little ones I highly recommend meeting with Angie to discuss your photography needs and I promise you won't be disappointed!! A beautiful picture really does last forever.

Spring has Sprung!

Though I do think we are still in for one more snowfall (yes I said it!) spring is certainly in the air and in the store!! Everyday is like Christmas morning as we are unpacking new arrivals for maternity, nursing moms, and little ones!!

Here is just a little taste of a few of our newer items!!

From JJ Cole we are in love with their new SWAG BAG which offers moms both style and function! This bag comes complete with lots of interior pockets, change purse, stroller straps and change mat. Toss this on your shoulder and see if anyone can guess it's a diaper bag!!

Now these sweet little rompers by Kitt + Lili are super fun! Give peace a chance with this comfortable outfit made of organic cotton with purple peace signs! We have owls, apples and hearts in stock too and love love love them!!

Not to leave out of favorite nursing moms!! Bravado has launched some great new bright colours in their signature nursing tank tops which are perfect for everything from sleeping to layering to out on the town!! Also the ever popular silk seamless bra is coming out in a beautiful petal pink colour - we'll let you know when that one arrives!! As always Boob of Sweden has made some beautiful pieces of nursing wear in their spring collection!

Take this cozy b warmer hoodie in sunflower (we also have it in navy!). It is made of lightweight chemical free cotton and the fleece lining is made of 100% recycled PET! It's bright and cheerful and sure to keep you comfy in spring breeze or around the campfire this summer! This is definitely one of our favorite items and popular with our nursing moms! In addition to these hoodies, we've also got in some new long sleeve tees and two gorgeous nursing dresses!

It seems these days that I have a lot of my original customers coming in looking for double strollers now that they are expecting their second child. Also we have a few twin moms-to-be also in the market for a double. So as with all the products I bring in to the store, it is research phase!! I am putting the call out to all of you - hopefully there are some of you out there reading this!! - and asking for your feedback.

Just leave a comment on this post, write it on our facebook wall or drop us a line at info@bumpmaternityonline.com and tell us about your double if you have one and your likes/dislikes of it, or if you are researching like us tell us what you are looking at and what features in a double are important to you etc.

We do have a few lines available from our current suppliers and currently we are in the midst of getting information from others so please let us know your thoughts asap.

To help wrangle those ideas out of you we will draw a $25 gift certificate* to the store from all who send us their thoughts!! Feel free to drop by the store as well and tell us what you think.

Well folks! It's not just the holidays approaching - we have some exciting news here at bump!

We're growing!! It's been a long and educational process but we are finally excited to announce the launch of our eStore!! Yep you can know shop all the great things at bump in the comfort of your own home! You can have your items shipped out to you or you can have them ready for pick up at the store!

Now just because we are going online doesn't mean that we don't hope to still see you all the time in the store because our customers are the reason that we are here and the reason we love our jobs!! Being back in the store these past few weeks have been great because I get to see you all again!

5 weeks till Christmas

This is what someone delightfully pointed out to me yesterday so I started to bring up our holiday items and decorations and began to put fall away even though it's still balmy outside. This is how I know I could never live in California or Arizona - without flurries of snow or at least the need to wear socks, it just doesn't really feel like the holidays are approaching!

The good news is that we have some great items in for both mom and little one! Great gift ideas such as Isoki Quick Change kits for moms on the go, comfy nursing loungewear for new moms and great wooden toys for little ones. We do try to stock toys for kids of all ages and are happy to try to get specific items in for you but please come in soon before everything sells out!

One of my favorite items is our Plan Toys Tea Set complete with wooden tea bags and sugar cubes - perfect size for little hands!
